So my "good" dualshock 3 is not very "good" anymore. After 3 years of gaming it finally broke down.

So I'm 1 year away from buying a ps4. When I do eventually buy a ps4 I will defenately buy a second controller for couch coop.

So I was thinking, instead of buying a dualshock 3 for the ps3, is it a good idead to buy a dualshock 4 a year earlier and use it for the ps3 during this year?

Does it support every game? Does anybody use a DS4 on ps3.What problems have you faced?

note: after buying a ps4 I'm NOT selling the ps3 or anything. There are plenty of games on ps3 that I will want to play or replay in the future, so it's not like a DS3 would not be worth it.I'm just asking if a DS4 works just as well on ps3 as a DS3.

What do you suggets?

I didn't tried the DS4 on my PS3 yet, but it has compatibility issues. The rumble and sixaxis functions won't work. Specifically the later is required by some games. Titles with more restrict requirements of controller, like both Gran Turismo games, won't work too.

I think the compatibility is good enough to use the DS4 as second joystick (that's why I didn't tried, I have 2 DS3), but that's it. I only fiddled with controller options on the PS4 since I only have 1 DS4 and the DS3 don't have a touchpad to be compatible with the PS4 and I just ended using the Vita as a controller (works like a charm).

So my advice is buy a DS3.
