Heh, I wonder what Yahtzee would have to say about this. He had a couple of things to say about Uncharted's white hero's and multi-racial enemies.

I think that had more to do with the fact that none of the villians were white until the last couple... yet every other race was covered.

Being set in an area predominantly full of black people is likely going to make the opponents predominantly black. One could argue that they could of used a black main character since it's not like RE games don't introduce new main characters all the time.

I'm assuming that's where the main problem lies anyway. Not that black people are being killed, but that it's a white guy killing black people. A white american no less.

It'd be like if you had a game... and there was a black guy, and his favorite food was chicekn or something. Is that racist? No. But because of stereotypes a lot of people will be offended... so why bother? How hard is it to change chicken to popcorn or turkey or something.

Of course, people should be alowed to make blatantly racist games as well. People could make a holocaust simulator where hitler goes running around exterminating jews as much as a care... at the end of the day the free market will decide what's acceptable as games like that won't sell.

A game where a bunch of Japanese guys started killing Chinese people likely wouldn't go over well with the Chinese audience either.

Naughty Dog based the game off of Somali Pirates.

I think if they made the pirates white it would have been more racist because, well, what white pirates do you hear about in the news aside from working at Long John Silver? Also, a great chunk of the game takes place in Asia, so....

Not too many colored protaganists, nor too many colored antagonists in video games.

Your kidding right?  There are plenty of white pirates.  Piracy is something that all nations like to get in on.

Also... basing something on the opposite of a stereotype isn't racism.
