I still strongly remember my first year with the PS3. It was Resistance, Motor Storm, Heavenly Sword and Uncharted. On the PSN side, Super Stardust HD and then there were a bunch of throwaway titles that didn't deserve my money; I just wanted something to play on the PS3 other than PS2 games.

Resistance at the beginning and Uncharted at the end were the most played titles. Super Stardust was played throughout 2007.

My first year with the PS4 started with Battlefield 4 (port), Asassin's Creed Black Flag (port), Killzone Shadow Fall and Resogun.

Resogun is the only game I kept playing and still play to this day. Ironically, it was a part of my PSN+ subscription. Infamous Second Son was the mid year release; played heavily along with the standalone First Light. The Last of Us (remaster) and MGS Ground Zeroes (multiplatform). There were too many PSN games as a part of the PSN+ free game of the month incentive.

No lack of games there, but Resogun, Second Son and First Light are the only platform exclusives that I've played heavily. Rather than make a pointless claim that this means there was no reason to own one in the first year, I'd have to say that's not the case as the first year has been a transition off the PS3 to the PS4 as my primary game platform, much like 2007 was a transition off the PS2 to the PS3.

In both years, the majority of my purchases went to the new platform.
