^Both PSX and PS2 sold over 100 million in their console generations. PS3 will definitely sell over 100 million hardware when its finished in 8 years time.

Okay, I am starting to get a CrazzyMan vibe from you. You are seriously delusional. Using you logic we'd all still be playing Atari systems right now. The PS3 isn't selling over 88 million units in the next 79 months.

I don't think so ether, but the PS3 is tracking the PS2 in sales from launch, so there is nothing yet to indicate that it won't.

No it isn't. The only place the PS3 is tracking near the PS2 is Europe. The PS3 is will behind the PS2 in Japanese and North American sales at this point.

The PS2 does take a huge jump in a few months, so Sony will have to do something soon if it wants to keep on the curve (like a price drop), but it's holding it's own well. I understand the timed releases effect that chart, but as of today, the PS3 is selling on par with the PS2 this far in it's life. That can not be disputed.

Now, will it take off and spike like the PS2 did a few more months in it's life? Who knows (I am going to guess no), but we don't need to debate it, we can just wait a few months and see what happens :)
