47. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team
I don't really like the word "underrated" mostly because of the misuse of the word. But it is what I would use to describe this game. Critics overall didn't like this game too much and to an extent I can see why, PMD: Red Rescue Team is very repetitive and the gameplay is rather simplistic. The main focus which is dungeon crawling is about as basic as it can be and it is very easy. But what holds this game up is the charm and the combat system. The graphics, music and writing are all very cute, touching and charming, trying to hate on this game is like trying to hate on a puppy. The writing especially is very good and probably my favourite thing about this game, all the different characters are unique, what they say is witty and one of the first games to make me tear up a little bit, one of the main things that kept me playing. The Pokemon combat system also transitioned very well, it works practically the same way it works in the main line games with a few changes to the strength of certain moves. Those qualities made the game for me and why I feel it deserves a place on this list, without those, PMD would just be another generic dungeon crawl, thankfully it is not.
Hint for 46: This series which this fighting game is a part of always gets made fun of for it's ridiculous naming conventions.
