Market share doesn't have all that much to do with the third party support. If it did, the Wii would have had first go of all of it, but it didn't.
You are missing out not owning the Wii U. Some of what you have said has some truth behind it, but Nintendo has been on a big push to diversify their offerings. Do they have COD this time around? No. Is that a shame? It is if you like COD. Did they just release a very good game like Bayonetta 2? Yup. If you are a fan of that kind of game it's great and then you should also pick up Wonderful 101, superb game. Other games you can't get anywhere else, Smash bros, Mario Kart, Pikmin, Xenoblade, Captain Toad. Many of those games don't have any similar play styles on any other system, ie, Pikmin and Captain Toad. Smash and MK have games that try to emulate their experiences but usually end up failing. Basically the two genre's that they don't have offerings for at the moment, at least the new ones, are FPS (newest COD) and sandbox (GTA, Second Son/Sunset Overdrive).
Just because you choose to ignore much of the other offerings on the console doesn't make it only a Mario and Zelda console. By that theory, if the only games that interest you are FPS games, then PS4 and X1 are just COD and Destiny consoles. They have pushed sales for both of them more than almost every other game released on either...
The audience for NIntendo will happily pick up their consoles to play their games, especially since they are diversifying more now, so there is no reason for them to try to go software only, at least while they are still profitable.
Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
