@mrstickball: When Assassins' Creed was released X360:PS3 userbase ration in Others was close to 2 (excaly 1.91). Not it's 1.18. It is a huge difference and it will be even bigger when GTA4 is released. I'm not saying that PS3/X360 atach ratio will hold but it will be very hard for X360 version to repeate ratio for AC.

Most of the recent multiplatform games sold better on PS3 in Others. The list includes AC, PES 2008, Fifa 08, NFS: ProStreed, DMC4, WWE Smackdown, Kane & Lynych, Burnout Paradise while on X360 better sold only GH3 and CoD4 (I'm not taking in account recently released games like Army of Two as there were too few weeks avalibe but other than that I think I took all big multiplaform released recently)

So summing it up I think that PS3 version will win first week and the distance between two version will grow over time (life PS3 may sell 50% more than X360 version).

Ok. So the Xbox 360 can be known as "the shooter box", and cater to gamers, even in Europe, that prefer shooters, then when a multiplatform shooter-esque game comes out, that the 360's userbase is suddenly NOT going to buy the game?

Right now the X360 still leads in userbase in Europe, and still caters to the "hardcore western crowd" yet when a game comes out that caters to that audience, in spades, that it suddenly won't do very well?

Lets take a history lesson of shooters in Europe, shall we?

 NamePlaystation 3 Xbox 360
 Rainbow Six Vegas 2 141,289 295,015
 Condemned 2 26,244 34,959
 Dark Sector 24,739 29,483
 Call of Duty 4 1,351,272 1,550,000
 Army of Two 172,309 186,717
 Kane & Lynch 330,000 310,000

 Totals: 1,848,805 2,066,691

I'll gladly give you that PES, FIFA, and NFS: PS sold better on the Playstation 3, but may I ask: What kind of gamer is going to buy GTAIV? Racer guy? Soccer fan? RPG Gamer? Shoot-em-up Gamer? Chances are, the last one will buy the most. Not that the others won't buy, but I still think GTAIV, although will break boundaries with the market it sells to, does still favor a competitive race between the PS3 and the 360. I see sales going in the 360's favor in the first 1-3 weeks, then shifting to the PS3, eventually allowing the PS3 to overtake the 360's LTD European sales in a few months.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
