Sony's momentum appears to be on the rise in Japan as the top five selling games of the last week were all on PlayStation platforms and the PSP led the pack.

According to the latest Japanese video game data from Media Create for the week ended April 6, the PlayStation 3 sold another 11,303 units, which finally brings the installed base across the Pacific to more than two million. In terms of weekly sales, Sony's PSP has really taken off, selling close to 121,000 units – more than double Nintendo's DS Lite for the period.

Sales for the PSP were primarily driven by Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, which sold over 488K copies during the week and recently passed 1.5 million units shipped in the region. The Monster Hunter franchise has 6.8 million units so far.
