I boycott most games by now. If I buy them then for like $5 on steam. Or preowned.
There is just a handful of games left that I buy within the first months/full price.
Thanks to all the crap that happened in the last generation normal games are worth like 15 bucks to me. But since I never buy stuff for the normal price I wait for price drops that go way below 15.
If a game gets exclusive content that has nothing to do with hardware specific features (e.g Kinect/WiiU Gamepad) but is purely exclusive because of $$$ (Ubi on Sony) reasons I boycott that game on all platforms.
If a game gets DLC announced before launch or a few months after launch I boycott that game.
If a game has insufficient framerates I boycott that game (20fps would be okay for a turnbased game but every game that has fast gameplay/action that drops to sub 30 gets boycotted)
Bug infested games get boycotted
Everything that requires a fee gets boycotted (online service or mmorpg etc)
Every game with microtransactions gets boycotted
Every game that is ONLINE ONLY gets boycotted.
If a game gets devalued by its own dev/publisher (fast price drops) I dont buy its successor unless it hit sub 10 price tag.
If a game gets DLC I wait for GOTY.
I still have way to many games its indeed so many that I have no idea where to start. My backlog is huge.
