I don't think Sony's engineers are stupid enough to have the firmware streamed directly from the internet... So I call bullshit on that "broken internet connection" claim. First it should download it, THEN install it.
I can understand if a power failure during an update causes a bricked console, but if a connection failure can do the same that's just plain stupid of whoever made the update system.
