There is absolutely no reason for this type of recomendation when considering his request. Intel CPU is absolutely not a requirement for a low end gaming rig. 

Something like an Athlon X4 860K and a cheap FM2+ mobo will not bottleneck him at all.

Only Intel processor that makes sense for his setup is the G3258 and that processor trades blows and performance with the 860K.

Even with lower card graphic, if you have a good CPU (heck even and i3 dual core is better if you are not considering ps2 emulator)  you can still play games more better. I am not saying Intel is better in all aplication benchmark, but Intel is more reliable for games most of the times even dual core on i3 is better then any quad core AMD card. more over it's just my preference.

I've had, tested, benchmarked all kinds of CPUs within different price ranges. Before the G3258 Intel CPU, for low end builds, you'd be absolutely foolish to buy intel.

You can pretty much sumarize the CPU performance below:

Sub 100 bucks - AMD > Intel

- other than if you get G3258 and overclock, Athlon X4 and FX 4300 wll beat all Intels sub 100 dollar chips in gaming and other benchmarks

- Only reason to get Intel is because of single threaded performance 

 

Sub 150 bucks - AMD > Intel

- FX 6300/6350 and 8320 will beat intel i3s in 95% of the games and most other performance benhcmarks

- Only reason to get Intel is because of single threaded performance 

- Once you overclock AMD chips, its not even close

 

200 bucks and above - Intel > AMD

- No contest really once you get Intels i5
