The CPU is already bottlenecking you in some games. My old computer has a Core2Duo E8500 and the CPU is bottlenecking me in some games. even tho its roughly 25% faster than yours.

4GB of ram is actually pretty sufficient especially when you play at 720p,  That is for "last gen" games tho. "current gen" might even need more than 8 but there is not enough games out to be 100% sure.

Replacing the 6800 series GPU will help alot. Even if its the 6870 and not a 6850.
What 6800 series GPU do you have?
(My old PC had the 6870 then I replaced it with an AMD 7850 for 70€ Result? Significant boost)

I think it is HD6850 in fact. Yes, I'll change GPU first, than will upgrade a RAM to 8/10 Gb (currently I have 4x1Gb blocks, will be 2x4 + 2x1. or maybe just put 8+1+1+1 now?).  CPU is OK for 10-15% overclock, so some extra juice is possible to squeese out of it.
