Everton are/were hardly a midtable club. They had issues with money and he kept them alive and fighting for European places (even if it was Europa league) along side Tottenham and Liverpool who have all the money and threw it away mostly. He did well on a budget and I think that is where he succeeds. Having the money from Man United may have been too much for him to understand/comprehend.
