MS should keep the X1 $50 cheaper than the PS4 no matter what for the next year or two. If you're going to play, play to win. They have the money to do so where it's not a big deal to them. Sony doesn't have the pockets to price match MS.

Sony doesn't have to price match them. They're selling just fine. There's rumored to be a PS4 bundle with 3 games coming and Sony doesn't usually announce their deals til closer to Black Friday. MS had to do something to boost sales, Sony doesn't so there is no reason for them to jump the gun and change their plans. MS MIGHT win NPD for a month but so what? Look at what they had to do to get these sales plus Sony is still going to win world wide even if they do lose a month in the U.S.

Rumour, but no evidence. Another Black Friday advertisement leaked today for Target.

PS4 GTA5/LOUR for $399.99

X1 AC Bundle $329.99 with a $50 Gift Card bonus

So far all the leaks indicate the PS4 is staying at $399.99 and bundles are 2 games. Either GTA5/LOUR or LBP3/Lego Batman. All leaks showing X1 AC at $329.99.

Thats my point...they don't have to price match. A PS4 GTAV and LOUR for 400 is a great deal and you're crazy if you think it won't move consoles, same with the LBP3 and Lego Batman 3 one. MS can't compete with Sony at that price so they had to do a temporary price cut. Sony doesn't need a price cut to compete. If it gets to the point where they're getting completely crushed in the US then yeah they might do a price drop but unlike the X1 the PS4 isn't in a position where it has to.

My point wasnt that the PS4 needs one or not. It was the mythical bundle with 3 games coming for the super uber deal from Sony.  At this point all we have evidence of is that Sony has a Black Friday bundle(s) at the regular price. This may very well be a deal only available in limited quantities black friday weekend and come December the X1 will be the only console of the 2 with deals and bundles for the remainder of the year.  I will also add that a great November and December in the US could reset the competitive balance in the US for 2015.

The "regular price" with two free games is still a great deal. The three game bundle hasn't been confirmed yet but Sony also hasn't denied it so it is possible. We won't know until closer to Black Friday when Sony reveals what they will have to offer. As for next year Sony has a much stronger line up the first 2 quarters so I think that will get them the early boost. We don't know what either has to offer for the second half of the year yet so we can't judge that but Sony is still in a fine position in the US.

If there is going to be a deal it would already be in the advertisements.  A couple of extra 1st party niche games in the 1st part of the year isnt going to cause the PS4 to pull away again.  Both consoles will have strong libraries going into 2015 and that along with how well they do end of the year will be far more important.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
