but ofc. last year they sold 3.9m xbox one at 499
they will still make a operating profit

in the division yes but in terms of xboxs bringing in money or losing money they will be losing money.
Not related to you: It's actually a bit scary for MS. If this gen lasts as long as the last or longer as i think it will the revenue brought in by hardware sales will be tiny if not a loss. They wouldn't have wanted to cut the price for at least another year if not longer and now they're looking at selling it for $299 by year two.
