It is what Microsoft is using to protect digital content already. This is like any other DRM out there. Sony is using the same kind of technology to protect their games (when you downloading it and associated it to your console/PSN account for instance). Microsoft's one is just the most used in the world by a lot of different company. So to anwser your question it is not more intrusive than anything you can experience today on Xbox One/PS4 but of course it is up to the developper to use it the way he wants. Sony is actually already using this technology for different medias.

OP: I see some people starting to say that Sony changed their stance etc... Sony already use DRM for all content on PS4. DRM does not equal = need to connect to internet every 24h (some people seems to believe that). DRM is just to protect digital content against pirates. Try to copy your PS4 games from one console to another and see it if works... Sony is just using another and better technology that will certainly save them some cost too.
