don't forget, Citizens untined, The SCOTUS strinking down part of the voting rights act and less from this election but still and issure in general in the house, very gerymandred districs in several states, Between those 3 and what you mentioned the democrats were never going to do well in this election. Though I think had they tried to actuall sell there accomplishments the losses won't be so bad. If democratice voters would just remember to show up in the off years.

Yeah those are true. Though I wouldn't consider Obama right of center, just certainly more of a centrist than even the democrats who elected him thought he would be. Actually, the fact that anything got done at all is a miracle considering what congress has been like (I've grown fond of the term "scorched earth republicans")
