Core franchises show which ones both the companies and their target audience prioritise. Both Sony and Microsoft prioritise 13-40 year old Western males, and this is reflected in the games they invest their resources and marketing into. Shooters are the bread and butter of both companies, with a side dish of racing sim.

Im going to agree with you both on this one. Sonys console side is defintely more focussed on combating xbox, and theyre definately pushing the more mature shooter/racing angle on it.
However Aerys has a point as sony can make unique and interesting titles, for the vita. Games like tearaway, invizimals, freedom wars, an gravity rush are far from the fare they put out on their consoles at the moment. This is probably why I enjoy the vita more than ive enjoyed the ps3/4. I just worry that these titles will dry up due to the vitas current situation.

Oh, I agree, there are some interesting games. Puppeteer was one I quite liked. I never said it was identical to Xbox, just that Nintendo is the odd one out of the three.

Ah puppeteer.... Loved that game but it was sent out to die something fierce.
Don't worry I agree with you, Nintendo is the odd one out for better or worse.
