That's a problem with Mauls. Also Mauls tend to have those ridiculous air waves which ignore your maze and force you to build towers explicitly for every fifth wave or so. Lame.
I recommend Gem, Element, or Soldier TD. They're survivor-based, every man for himself. Those who drop are just losers and won't drag anyone down with them.
