Well the sales imply the Wii U should be more like the other machines. What they're doing doesn't have mass market appeal.

If they can somehow drop that tablet controller, things could be better.

I agree, the WiiU should be more like the PS4One in multiple ways, but how exactly are they supposed to make it like that now? All they could do now is build their online infrastructure and expand their teams as a means of readying for a smoother launch for their next console.

And third parties probably wouldn't have gotten back with Nintendo even if they had a console identical to the PS4. 

No, dropping the WiiU gamepad would make things worse. They'd lose one of the few selling points they've got left, and they'd be left with a weak, third party-less, and generic console.
