Ps5 131gb????
I can see next gen being very little difference between Ps5 and pc |
The reason for rapid increase in RAM of the earlier consoles was mainly because they are starving of RAM.
PS1 had 2 MB Main + 1 MB Graph + 0.5 Sound RAM
Moden PC had 16 MB Main + 2-4 MB Graph
PS2 had 32 MB RAM Main + 4 MB Graph
Modern PC had 128 MB + 32 MB Graph
and so on...
So the tech was advancing very rapidly. This is actually the first time in consoles history, the RAM in consoles is more than an average PC. The graph in the last generatin consoles with 256-512 MB RAM is comparable to PCs with 4 GB. Also the installed RAM has NOT been increasing fast for the last decade. In 2008, for example, an average PC had 2-4 GB RAM, while today it has 6-8 GB. Not a big improvement in 6 years. You can expect a similar increase for the next console, especially given that RAM is the last thing they are craving for now.
PS5 will have 2-4x CPU power, 4-8x GPU power and 2-3x RAM, and that's about it. Don't expect miracles.
