Super excited about this because it's my favorite Zelda game, and I've been hoping for a remastered version of it ever since OOT 3D was announced.

I don't know why everyone jizzes over this stuff (remakes in general). I own MM and can play it right now, this instant lol.

I own it too. In fact, I still have the pretty game box sitting on my shelf. But I don't want to hook up my N64 to play it again. The N64 adds this weird blurr to every game, and if the controller gets worn out, as they tend to do, I doubt I'd find a new replacement for it.

Wouldn't have made sense to remake the game on the Wii U when they have the engine and art style foundation already on the 3DS where they remade OoT. Of course I would have preferred it on the Wii U in glorious HD but it makes too much sense to have it on the 3DS.

^This.

Also, 3DS has a very big instal base. And Wind Waker HD for Wii U sold worse than any Zelda game. (With the exception of Four Swords, but that's not a regular Zelda game either.)

It's not fair to compare a remake to a new game. Plus Wind Waker HD was bundled (digital), that's how I got my copy. I don't think those "sales" are counted in. Regardless, Wind Waker HD sold great for a game that only took 6 months to make.

But yes, 3ds version makes more sense since it will sell more and it's a lot cheaper to develop. Would be nice if we got another HD remake though, doesn't even have to be a Zelda game!
