Because they don't make games like sports games that become completely irrelavent after the first year. There's a story to be told and stories, no matter how old, are stories that can be remembered and impactful. Now, I do agree that a new IP would be great but Nintendo has plenty on their hands right now. People act like AAA companies are supposed to be inhuman and produce new games every day. Give the teams some time. They have lives too.

Codename S.T.E.A.M, Xenoblade X and Splatoon were shownin htis direct, and while I dd see some excitement for these games the majority of people are going crazy over MM3D. I know that MM is beloved game, but  I do believe that Nintnedos new IPs should get similar attention. Maybe the lack of excitement is because  S.T.E.A.M, X and Splatoon are not exciting in their current form or maybe it's because a majority of Nintendo fans don't really care about new Ip's.  I don't know, but I do wish these games would get more attention.

Xenoblade X & Splatoon have been getting a lot of love ever since they were revealed but the major reason everybody is going nuts over MM3D is because it was just announced today, the other games u listed have been known about for months (nearly 2 years in Xenoblades case).
