Codename S.T.E.A.M, Xenoblade X and Splatoon were shownin htis direct, and while I dd see some excitement for these games the majority of people are going crazy over MM3D. I know that MM is beloved game, but I do believe that Nintnedos new IPs should get similar attention. Maybe the lack of excitement is because S.T.E.A.M, X and Splatoon are not exciting in their current form or maybe it's because a majority of Nintendo fans don't really care about new Ip's. I don't know, but I do wish these games would get more attention. |
I think, just me, that these games don't have a viral appeal. Don't get me wrong, Xenoblade is awesome, Splatoon has potential, and S.T.E.A.M. I... don't know what to say about that. Lincoln looks sweet but as I was saying, these games don't have the same effect as say a "Mario" or a "Zelda" because that's what the gaming community is familiar with. Do I agree with that? Not necessarily, but if a new IP comes out it has to build hype without the developer showing much of it. Destiny for example, game didn't do it for me and I sent it back, but when it was announced the gamers jumped on without a second thought. That's what a new IP should do. Splatoon is definetly different for Nintendo and I respect different. But do you even want to think about how popular of a new IP it would be if they had originally gone with Mario characters? It's all about being familiar and if you aren't familiar, you'd better make familiar look lame. That's how I view a new IP and how it is supposed to perform even before it hits the shelves.
