Actually that's not entirely true. Look up the paradox of choice, or psychology of too many choices.
I quickly get demotivated when I start looking for a new GPU, so many options. Before I was happy when a game had pages of graphics options, configurable ini files and what not, nowadays I don't care. I rather have the chef prepare a well balanced meal for me than build my own subway sandwhich.
I was excited for a bit when Steam announced the Steam box. 1 or maybe a few pc specs that games would be optimized for and guarantee a good baseline performance like on consoles, in a neat box to put under the tv. Well it didn't quite turn out to be that. I don't know enough of current hardware to confidently put together my own system in little time, yet enough to know there are probably better/different/cheaper ways if I keep looking. With consoles, no need to keep looking, just play the games.
Choice is good, especially binary choices, and I chose not to be part of the PC master race anymore :)
