You don't have to build it into the game. Thats not how shareplay works. What share literally does is take the game dvr feed and streams that over the internet and takes the controller input from your friend and streams that to your console. 

So basically, the remote console is uploading controller input data > the host console recieves that data as if it were a controller synced with the host console > then the host console uploads the video information to the remote console > remote console recieves video data > profit

Not really complicated when you think of it. 

It's not that hard, but you still have to build into the game receiving controller input through the wifi/ethernet signal rather than the controller blue tooth signal. Unless shareplay fools games into thinking they are getting controller input from the local controller. But if a publisher has to actively block Shareplay and Shareplay is in fact a default that will always work unless deliberately blocked, then that's a pretty arsehole move from Activision, even though I acknowledge their right and freedom to be arseholes.

Sooo, what if this Shareplay is a bit of a cunning move to reduce the burden of having to have huge numbers of PS4's built for PS Now? If your friend had a game, and you want to play it, you can use Shareplay and pay the PS Now rental fee and have full access, not just Shareplay access. Of course that requires your friend to switch on their PS4 and have the game running.
