What? Game Developers still get paid on PC when you buy their games.
Converesly, developers can get more of your dollar as most publishers (And in many cases) and developers allow you to buy the game directly from them, thus removing the Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony/Valve tax on games.

Conversely, consoles need the PC, without PC gamers funding the technological advancement, then consoles have nowhere to go with it's "next gen", unless they wan't to go the way of the Ouya and use ARM-based hardware.

ok then let me put it that way: nintendo, sony and even microsoft all have their own gamedevelopmentstudios. what does for ex. nvidia have? sure you can play games with their hardware but where exactly is their softwaredevelopmentsupport? so with that in mind i also can say pc needs consoles than without them you'd probably see have of the games you know about.
