So, as a fellow gearing up to get a PS4 this holiday season, step one was, unfortunately, acquire a new television, as the one I owned was a standard definition, fat-backed, older unit. It was an irritating expense on top of what was already going to be a five hundred dollar console purchase, taxes in, but meh, I decided to keep an eye open for any deals; the town I live in is a bit on the small side, at least compared to my home of Ottawa, and so we don't get super crazy deals here on a regular basis, even during the holidays. As such, when I sifted through a flier for the local electronics store and saw a modestly sized 720p television for about a hundred and eighty nine bucks, I decided what the heck, good enough, I don't need anything super fancy.

So I was on my way up there, and started browsing through the flier again, mostly to pass the time. Just as I was entering the store, I reached the back of it, only to be greeted with another television, in a section different from the one the rest of the televisions had occupied; this one bigger, sharper, and (in my opinion,) only moderately more expensive. As it so happens, they had only one left.

Long story short, was going there to grab a modest 28 inch, 720p television, and ended up with a 40 inch, 1080p instead. I'm actually writing my post using it as my monitor. =D Which does feel kinda overkill, but pfffft.

Anyway, any tales where you walked into a store, intending to pick up something very specific, right down to the price tag in mind, but through either a combination of circumstance, lack of self control, or basic 'Squee I Wants,' ended up with something that was not only completely different, but substantially more expensive than you had intended?
