That's not all that is happening this gen.

In most multiplatform games that run at 1080p on PS4 and 900p on XOne the only difference is the resolution itself. In case of games running at the same resolution on both consoles, obviously XOne suffers a lot more since it's hardware is worse than PS4's, usually using lower end assets and having a worse framerate.

Nope. Other differences include higher resolution textures, smoother framerates, less (or no) screen tear, better AA, and better AO. With most multiplatform releases, one or more of those elements are different between the two machines. Just check out DF for clarification.

I've read a few faceoffs and, actually, you're right, I forgot about some compromises games usually do on XOne even when lowering res. Still, results depend a lot on the game. While in most cases XOne ports run with lower shadow resolutions and some absent or lower end post-processing, I've actually not read yet any faceoff in which texture resolution is lower on XOne when compared to PS4. There are cases where the XOne version actually has better framerates, though, so it highly depends on the game. Anyway, it's still not noticeable to the extent that was present last-gen, since texture/post-processing/shadow resolution settings were so low that any drop to these was a lot more perceptible than it is this gen. I do get your point, though.
