I believe that DC stands a good chance at statehood in the future. The 2006 pop. is 581,530. http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/11000.html Rhode Island, currently our smallest state, has 1,067,610 people. http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/44000.html I do not believe that it would be "unfair."
