It was created by the founders of Platinum and a good chunk of their staff, and even though they are gone from it, their fingerprints are all over the series. Particularly the third entry. They strayed from Kamiya's blue prints with the second game and it bombed miserably. The third installment is pretty much an attempt to get that "Kamiya" feel back and it's so successful that many fans to this day think Kamiya and Platinum were involved with DMC3.
