The goodwill write-down for their mobile division was unfortunate, I mean a write-off like that tends to be a one off but that put a black eye on an otherwise good quarter. Sony has no real presence in North America which is startling in that they can easily chip at Samsungs Android lead. TV division, TV division, TV division, that was the mantra for a decade and to see it stable on a non holiday quarter is something.
The gaming section needs its own thread (I'm sure there is one already) Q2 looked good and that was July to September which are normally gaming slow months. I wouldn't be surprised if their 9.4 million forecast for the next two quarters is conservative. You have the December event, you have Japanese game developers conferences starting in Decemer as well. The console has a game coming out a week in Japan starting in January with bundles galore and NA/EU...well we know whats going on there already.
