Which had the better characters? Debatable, Kratos and Dante are both awesome.
Which had the better first game? God of War
Which evovled more in the later years? God of War, DMC went backwards big time.
Which had the better games? God of War
God of War is better in every way nearly, it reigns supreme in it's genre and no game really comes close to it tbh.
