I guess saying Monster Hunter is true, wich is a problem that was created by Sony themselves when they raised so many issues for the release of MH3 on the PS3. That was the first mistake.
The biggest mistake was that Sony themselves did not believe in it, nor were 100% behind it. Sony were quick to jump ship from their own portable. Yeah they still made some quirky titles, but nothing that would make a difference.
Uncharted golden abyss sold a million. It was always beyond me why they didnt simply make a second one. That and Santa monica should've made a God of War game and Polyphony should have announced a new GT for it. With that kind of support the Sales wouldnt have dwindled so sharply and more 3rd parties would have risked new releases.
I guess the main problem of the Vita though was that it was too powerful. More power equal more expensive development to achieve good products. When you can release those games on the 360/PS3 instead wich have a huge installed base, the choice was obvious.
In conclusion, the Vita was ahead of the curve, much like the Dreamcast, and that might've been the main reason for its failing. The market wasnt ready for it. If the Vita released 1 or 2 years from now, it would probably fill a better niche in the market since PS3/360 wouldnt be an option anymore. Ports from those consoles could be a thing aswell. It was ahead of its time, but that doesnt mean it was a complete failure. I love my Vita and i bought more games for it than for the 3DS. I dont care much about the indies but the japanese suport has been decent.
