I didn't want to get sucked into this conversation, but here we go. Asking someone to pay $600 dollars for what is essentially a toy is nowhere near in touch with reality. I know when you get your money from your parent $600 doesn't sound like much at all, but that's a huge investment.

And they didn't sell 3.5 million with one game, there were several, many were bought hoping to make a profit, a fair number (not majority more than likely) were bought as a Blue-Ray player, and a lot were bought based on name alone.

Sorry, but these aren't toys

When parents buy their kids a console (which is in the context I was talking about), the parents are buying their kids a toy.  We may see it as something else, but that's all it is.

Though, really, a console is a toy.  Even with things like Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree, you don't get any use out of it other than fun.  This isn't meant as any kind of an insult to any console, it just is what it is.  True, people have other expensive hobbies like skiing or golfing or whatever, but those are sports and they are different.  I know there are people that think of gaming as a sport, but it isn't (and don't even try to argue this because I'm really not going to bother beyond that statement because it is simply an opinion and none of us are right).
