"Fast becoming industry standard"? It's been industry standard since the 5th gen, haha. You can still make an attractive looking game at 60fps and I'd contend that Nintendo are again a good example; games like Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 look great at 60fps. Sure, they could be more detailed at 30fps, but then the gameplay would be less responsive. Don't get me wrong; I'm not against 30fps with greater detail when it makes sense, but devs should stop giving us BS excuses and just be honest. |
I don't think you realize we are agreeing on the same thing. I only disagree with the nintendo part cause there is an obvious reason their games can hit 60fps. Yes a game can still obviouly be good looking at 60fps. But if the same team made the same game but went down to 30fps they would naturally be able to make it look even better. What I am basically saying is that now every dev seems willing to do just that. Slow it down to make it "look better".
Thats why I said in my original post here that only Kojima MGS5:PP which is running at 60fps and 1080p on the PS4 and naughty dog U4 who has supposedly said U4 will run in 1080p@60fps too are our last hopes of teams that will go for really good looking AAA games while still hitting 60fps.
I will change my opinion on nintendo if tehe new Zelda game is running at 60fps and at least with some AA. I appreciate that they see 60fps as important to the "feel" of a game, but I can't comend them for doig something when I can obviously see what they did (or didn't do) to make it possible.
