when i play on my ps4(X1) and on my Wii U, one feels next-gen and the other feels current gen in a new box. And no i'm not talking about ps4/x1. Wii U games like Mario kart 8 and Bayonetta 2 feel next gen because they have great art design and run extremely well. Thats what next-gen must be. |
At first, I thought I was the only one who felt this way. Then, I started noticing people who are over watching/playing games dropping lots of "oh, wow" and "that looks really good" when it comes to MK8, Tropical Freeze, and - most recently - Bayonetta 2. I'm sure they're impressed by the PS4 as well, but those games look so much like the titles we've been playing for the last four to eight years, only at a higher resolution and more realistic lighting.
Maybe it's just because expectations are lower for a console with the name Wii tacked onto it, but when I look at many of the top tier Wii U titles, I feel like I'm looking at something new and fresh and exciting in a way that my PS4 games simply don't.
