I'd say the N64 was the last 'retro-console'. Or at least the newest we today can call a retro-console. It was the last system to use cartridges, the traditional medium, for it's games and the last to follow the old rules. I don't consider the PS1 to be a retro-console anymore, because the shift it caused in the industry, I see it as (one of) the first of the 'modern consoles'. The N64 is also my favorite of the retro consoles.
