At least this will be very good for us all gamers, as he wants to use that money to start developing again from scratch without all the worries he felt when his previous company grew far faster than he could ever predict.
But yes, that was totally a bargain for Notch, not for MS. It's true that Notch had not been personally developing minecraft for some time, but the talent behind the original idea is totally his, the team leader that continued its development is a very good artisan of SW and a good leader, but his past experience tells us that as an original developer he's many steps below Notch's level, and MS got him, not Notch for all that money.
