so i'm going to ignore the 3DS for my bit.
if a new version of the ps4 released that could be a game that looks awesome but can't be played on the old version of the ps4 i'd be pissed.
if a new version of the ps4 released and it played the exact same games but added enticing new OS features (example of which i cannot currently fathom) i could be pretty excited.
..basically the details of the situation matter. but, imo, the key value proposition of a console compared to PC is that i can play any game without the need to upgrade my hardware every 2 years or think about compatibility issues.
