One of the winning key to make Xbox One success is none other to make other competitor failed, or stay low and build strategy for the next gen console. No exclusive games will make Xbox one wining in this generation, not even lower price, crazy advertising or other stunt move to perform.

Even if they trying to become "the current gen of PS3" they will failed. PlayStation brand is big out there, and Xbox is the challenger in Video game Industry.

They could win off course by stay focusing with what they did in the early days of Xbox 360, but guess what, they turned down there own strategy in the past and loose focus on the end. They were under estimated the beast, they forgot that they are the challenger in this industry, they just realized, to win the war, they need more then just winning on the first or the second year, they need to build there own first party, they need to build trust by building the armies of fanboys, and loyal consumer, they need to choose and focus what market they after for.

Sony is the winner on this generation, it's hard if the Beast already on the ring, it's already checkmate. PlayStation can counter every movement with Xbox, even if they to try PS3 strategy, they already planned for that. Xbox has realized that they actually the one who need brand trust not the other way around.

But fear not. If you are looking for a good console, Xbox one is full of promise, they may not even defeat PS4 (in terms of sales, exclusivity and graphic), Microsoft almost has infinite money, they will have some good exclusive in the future and gamers who is truly gamers will enjoy it, buy the console no matter what.

Pretty much.  IT. IS.  OVER.  At this point the perception is already there that the X1 is the inferior console.  The only way I could see them competing at all long term is if they can really manage to drop the price fast.  A $300 X1 needs to happen now, and they better be ready to drop to $200 when the PS4 is $300.
