No, they are not the same. War is far worse because it affects so many. People are very often forced by law to enlist in the army and no matter what they think or how they feel, they are forced to go out and kill people from another country (or their own country). Not a single one of those soldiers ever had a say in when, where and why. A select few orders thousands upon thousands to go out and slaughter, all for the sake of these select few's own interests. What? I am not arguing whether or not war in real life is worse, we're talking wheter is it morally the same to kill a solider tying to kill you or a random innocent person You are grasping at them starws pretty hard. Look at my previous point. And btw, yes, fighting a war is morally acceptable sometimes, unlike mass civil shootings, which never are The reason why it works in games, is because they are games. They aren't real. Want games to be taken more seriously? Wanna take the industry to the next level? Blame mainstream. They don't care. Just because its ficition doesnt make imune to criticism, especially when you take the game's background and inspiration into account No one cared when videos of saints row came out where the protagonist were beating screaming civilians to death with the giant dildo. "lolol killin with a dildo!" Different context again. Saints row main selling point isnt killing people with giant dildos just for the sake of killing them. It was an option, but it was never the centre of the game, whereas in hatred, thats exactly what they are trying to sell the game on,
Same as above. GTA has TON of other stuff to do and mass murder isnt its selling point Don't like Hatred? Don't buy it. Wanna ban Hatred? Take a good hard look on what's already available. Otherwise, this situation is basically SJW-bullshit all over again. I dont want the game banned, I think any kind of censorship is stupid, but this game can actually have a negative effect on the industry. |
