how many multiplats dont have pc ports?  they know the tricks, thats why they wanted x86 so badly.  i dont say games will not improve in the cycle, but far less than last gen(last gen was an outliner, not the norm, because of the cell).

sub1080p isnt going away this gen. the consoles just dont have the power, and sure improvements are nice, but games will get more demanding in the cycle, better AI, more things on screen, faster action, new effects, bigger textures...

and the gpu tech is new, but not that different from the gpu generation before.

but hey, your knowledge of 1 gen is surely right, it will be night and day, 2016 cod will be 4k 60 fps.

Just because the hardware is familiar, it doesn't mean that thye won't optimize it. Even with the GC - Wii - Wii U trio where the CPU is basically the same, we can always see that visuals improve a lot during the cycle. We could even use the OG XBox that used a Pentium III as an example that the CPU architecture won't make the console see less improvements. Last gen wasn't an outlier. Most launch PS3 games were basically PS2 titles on HD, but we can see that early PS2 titles weren't that better than late PS1 ones.

The only single massive jump we saw was between SNES/Gen and PS1/Saturn/N64 because they went to the 3D route. Saying that last gen was an outliner because of the Cell is a big mistake. And what about the 360? Both consoles kept the same pace when improving visuals. If the Cell was the problem we would had a gen where both would be pretty equal in the beginning and that ended with a PS3 crushing the 360.

Of course games won't be 4K now. It isn't interesting in a visual standpoint. We could consider this gen roughly 10 times more powerful than the last. Going from 720p to 4K would mean pushing 9 times more pixels so basically visuals would stay the same and would only be more crispy clear. The best route is keeping 1080p and simply putting resources in lightning, textures and things that will give a larger boost in visuals. CoD in 2016 will be 1080p, but with better visuals (well, CoD is one hell of a bad example because it looks bad, just replace it with any game that really gets prettier with time).

And just to add, a lot of multiplats don't get a port. We don't have Destiny yet, GTA came 1 year later, MGS will be late, Red Dead never came. Later this years we have WWE 2K15. EA Sports UFC was console exclusive.
