Well, PC sales have been in a decline for almost a decade now. Tablets sales are now in decline. TV sales are in decline.
I think that console sales will see a decline this generation from the 270+ million of last gen to something closer to 120 million total. I think that that will be decline enough. THe problem is that so many other devices allow for a "console like" experience. Heck, the Amazon Fire TV acts like a console. Almost any tablet can be connected to a tv and a controller and it is a console of sorts. Once these other devices are "powerful enough" for the average gamer to play the games that average people play on consoles, the need for consoles will decrease substantially. Also, if the streaming of games really does take off, there will be no need at all for a console.
I guess, we shall see...
