Which is exactly why the summer is not a bad time to launch a game, you have hardly any competition.

Why do you think no game company launches in the summer. It's for that exact reason. People, no matter what the parents say, are outside, partying, on the boat, Dirtbike, etc. Or this is the shit I'm doing. So I generally won't pick up a  game in summer.

Because companies actually believe the same thing you do, even though there have been several examples of games releasing in the summer or late spring and still performing extremely well, TLOU and MGS 4 for example. The holidays on the other hand are always jam packed with stuff and every year there are several games just drowning in the masses, when those games would be way better suited for an empty summer release.

Movies have summer blockbusters every year, so why not games as well?

Those are already established games. September is a perfect launch date. Just before all the blockbusters and also after the summer.

You can't bring your girl to a video game to get to second base can you?
