It's perfectly possible that the X1 is on top, but it's understandable why people don't believe him. His 250k figure for the PS4 seems like complete bullshit.
If he is to be believed then the PS4 has had about the same weekly sales average in September as it did in August, despite Destiny's release, and September traditionally being a bigger sales month. Not impossible, but incredibly improbable.
