the sega CD was not an overpromise it was capable of that just too pricey.
Sony gets smack for showing CG as gameplay(aka Killzone). They also get smack for the Emotion engine(old man face and ducks). Nintendo did the same thing as well(project reality and showing an art gallery that wasn't even possible on gameconsoles until the Dreamcast)
