@underlined Which console are you talking about tho? and how do you determine cool? or what a young adult is, that isn't really something that Sony brought to the market. @bold + underlined - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_Aerobics |
CD based gaming started with PS1, others may have experimented earlier but PS1 was the first console that made it popular. Sega would have probably gone with cartridges too like NIntendo if Sony didnt enter the market. Sony came and innovated, Nintendo was stubborn.
PS1 ads targeted young adults and the games were darker and more adult oriented than the competition. There was Tekken, Tomb Raider, MGS, Driver, Syphon Filter, FF7, Gran Turismo. Gaming was seen as kids toys before Playstation. PS1 is the first console that made console gaming mainstream breaking 100m units sold. The globalization of gaming continued further with PS2.
Without Playstation the industry would've probably crashed in the late 90s/early 00s, Xbox wouldn't exist becuz Sony didnt enter the market, we would have used VHS and cartridges much longer.
