Grid Autosport is in that vein and released in 2014. It just wasn't on 8th gen consoles.

Either way, it sounds like you're grasping at straws.

What does he/she mean?

Not open world and real racing sim or not open world and not real racing sim?

Other arcade racers have been in open world (NFS, The Crew).
Sim racers (like Forza, Project Cars) are on tracks.
But only DC is arcade racing on tracks!

Like I said, grasping at straws.

Do you call Grid full on sim? And NFS Shift / Shift 2, Ferrari challenge, and TD Ferrari racing legends? All semi realistic track racers from last gen.

As far as what makes it arcade, I don't know. The handling is not as realistic as GT, yet definitely a lot closer to GT than to NFS rivals. NFS Shift comes close (without the suspension bug :)

What I do know is, that is has some of the best tracks I've raced on in a long time, and I play a lot of racing games. Definitely feels like driving around the Nurburgring, but this time in Scotland, Norway, Chile, India and Canada. I also can't remember the last time I played a single game for over 10 hours in 1 day. I'm level 32 now, pro tournament completed. On to legend.

I fail to see the lack of enjoyment in DC. Progression is fine too, there's tons of stuff to do and to unlock even without the online working. Yet I wouldn't mind motorbike DLC, leaning in the corners on these tracks would be something else :)

DC has some extensive damage modelling too. After running laps through the night my expensive super car can be sold for scrap. Deformed everywhere, most of the paint scratched of. Couple times landing on the roof will do that. I guess the arcade part is that damage doesn't affect the car, luckily so, otherwise hot lapping would not be fun.
