Not quite. The source below shows them as an affiliate, not a subsidiary. Meaning Nintendo own less than 50% of the company. I would assume GameFreak or Creatures inc therefore owns the rest (ie. >50%).

On their Wikipedia page it says itwas founded and branded The Pokemon Company by Nintendo in 1998. Usually I don't trust Wikipedia but a miss like that would be quickly spotted/corrected.

Anyway, Pokemon is the only franchise that could be bigger than GTA on consoles and it's being held back weird Japanese business practices.

well actually beside obscure articles wikipedia is extremely reliable if you follow the guidelines of each page telling you what is verified or what is a work in progress and when it come down to scientific material it surpasses every major competing encyclopedia like universal, Britannica with a higher accuracy rate and slower rate of error... According to studies...
